Man Points Gun At People Gathered In St. Mary's County Public Park, Sheriff Says

An 18-year-old man has been arrested after police say he pointed a gun at a group of people gathered in a St. Mary's County park over the weekend.

Javonte Taevon Fenwick, 18, of Hollywood, was seen pointing a firearm at a group at a pavilion on George B. Cecil Park in Valley Lee on Saturday, June 1, the county sheriff's office said.

Fenwick fled the scene but was arrested by deputies near Flat Iron Road, the office said.

Fenwick was taken to the Detention and Rehabilitation Center in Leonardtown and charged with first-degree assault, use of a firearm in the commission of a violent crime, second-degree assault, and illegal possession of a regulated firearm. Fenwick is awaiting a bond hearing.
